Launch of the Mid Life Slices Photo Book Anthology at the Model Sligo on Sat 28th.( l to r) Louise Brady, Kim Doherty, Catherine Harten and Debbie Gilhooley with their copies.
Called Mid-life Slices, proceeds from its sale will go to the Sligo Cancer Support Centre.
The full colour illustrated has 87 separate submissions of poetry, prose, art and photography.
The project is the initiative of Sligo residents Ita Conroy, Maureen Howley and Mary Manandhar.
While celebrating a milestone birthday party in March 2011, they discussed friends and family who had not made it to mid-life and decided to produce a book in celebration and commemoration of those they had lost, particularly to cancer.
They felt that this would give local women in mid-life the opportunity to express themselves about issues faced in their own lives while also raising funds to support local cancer patients and their families.
