Sligo food festival on this weekend
This weekend Sligo’s many cafes and restaurants will host the SÓ Sligo Food Festival, an exciting and vibrant food festival that showcases world class locally-produced cuisine in an hospitable environment for national and international visitors.

Celebrating its third year with an exciting and varied programme of activities in Sligo town and the surrounding area – running from Friday May 18, to Sunday May 20 – it is an event rivalling any international food festival.
Attendees can look forward to cookery competitions and demonstrations for all ages and capabilities in the Sligo Park Hotel, the Source Sligo and in the designated festival hub that will be the Theatre Tent in the Stephen’s Street Car Park. Cookery demonstrations will be led by top chefs Edward Hayden and Ireland AM’s Joe Shannon, with competitors over the weekend in with a chance to display their talents on TV3 in the future.
Family is central to the festival, with “Mum knows best” bakery competitions and ‘The Great Family Cook-Off’ taking place over the weekend. Food forums, film showings, artisan markets and beachside yoga & breakfast are just some of the events lined up for this jam-packed festival.
The SÓ Sligo Food Festival will launch officially this coming Thursday, May 17, in the Theatre Tent, Stephen’s Street Car Park, with an evening of fine dining and entertainment.
