New fundraising venture launched
A Scottish entrepreneur based in Sligo has put the weight of his business behind a new charity venture which will benefit 25 different charities.
Jamie grant, founder of water treatment firm Grant Water (www.grantwater.ie) is sponsor of Charity25, a new mobile subscription service which is affiliated to 25 different irish charities; including Childline, Down Syndrome Ireland, Irish Hospice Foundation, Enable Ireland and the Marie Keating Foundation.
The idea is a simple one. People can simply text the word 2WILLDO to 57802 and they will be able to donate just €2 a month to the charity.
The charity itself has no operating costs, so once six cents is removed by the mobile phone service providers, the remaining €1.94 goes directly to Charity 25 Crucially, if you want to opt-out it is as simple as texting the word STOP to the same number, 57802.
Charity25 will launch Tuesday, June 5 on national radio stations.Today FM, Newstalk and 2FM with grant Water as main sponsors of the campaign.
The charity also has some familiar support in the form of comedian and recent BAFTA winner Brendan o’Carroll of “Mrs Brown” fame.
