TALL TALES: Actor and artist Wayne O’Connor will host a storytelling event for kids in Sligo Library tomorrow (Friday) afternoon at 12.30pm

The storytelling event – with Blue Raincoat Theatre Company and actor/artist Wayne O’Connor – is part of the ‘Tread Softly’ Yeats festival.

A unique storytelling experience inspired by the works of W.B. Yeats, Wayne O’Connor will engage the young in fun filled fusion of words and images based on Yeats’ poetry. To reserve a place call 071-9111675.

Then, on Tuesday, August 5, also at Sligo Library, Christophe The Magician will give two storytelling events, from 11am-12noon and from 1-2pm.

‘Books of Wonder’ is where the magician tries to find a specific book in the library with the help of his assistant and of the audience.

In the process, several books are selected throughout the show, children are invited to come up and read a few lines and this, in turn, leads to a specific magic trick/routine.

At the conclusion of each trick, part of a book ID code (Dewey number) is revealed and at the end of the show, the full ID leads to the sought after book.

More magic punctuates the show in between book related magic as well as to open and close the performance. This show is funny, upbeat and the magic is aimed at a mixed age audience.
