Internationally known TV and film star Joanna Lumley will be in Sligo on Saturday afternoon to open the Yeats garden at The Model on Saturday afternoon as part of the weekend celebration to mark the 150th anniversary of the birthday of poet WB Yeats on Saturday.
The ‘Yeats’ Secret Garden in Sligo’ won a gold medal at the recent Bloom in the Park Garden Festival in Dublin.
Now its creator, Sligo designer Lorely Forrester, is re-building it at The Model.
One of its admirers at Bloom was President Michael D Higgins, who said he found the garden the “most inspirational” of the show gardens.
There is a packed programme of events for the weekend to mark the poet’s birthday.
