FOR many of us growing up, it wasn’t Captain America or Thor who were our heroes.
On Saturday morning the only show in town was WWF and a weekly helping of Hulk Hogan, Mankind Mick Foley and The Undertaker.
A group of Sligo men will be acting out those childhood dreams of lifting heavyweight gold, Sports Entertainment’s top prize, and all for a very worthy cause when they wrestle for charity later this month. Gino O’Boyle, better known to most as a Sligo County Councillor, will be taking part on the night and explains how it all came about.
“We had a staff night out for the Garavogue and decided to dress as wrestlers. We were out for the craic and we go the notion ‘wouldn’t it be great to do a wrestling event?’ There are loads of white collar boxing events and that kind of thing but there is never any wrestling,” Gino said.
