The building has been purchased by Liverpool-based company Eastview Limited, however it has not yet been clarified what their plans are.

Bishop Kevin Doran told the Sligo Weekender that Diocese of Elphin was responsible for the maintenance of the 19th century premises, which had cost upwards of €70,000 in recent years.

“What we needed to do was two things. Firstly, in terms of our responsibility as trustees of a charity [The Elphin Diocese] we had to make sure that we were not being wasteful of a resource and on the other hand, as good citizens we wanted to make sure that we lived up to the responsibility to ensure that the building did not fall into disrepair.”

The old college was on the market for little over a year and Bishop Doran is confident that they have reached an agreement with the right person for the job of maintaining the historic building.
