Rory suffers from cerebral palsy spastic diplegia. Following an extensive fundraising campaign by his father Gerry and mother Shauna the life changing operation was made possible.

Rory has undergone selective dorsal rhizotomy surgery, he has also undergone a second procedure to stop the scissoring of his little legs.

At two years old he is the youngest child from Ireland to have undergone the surgery.

“At eight months old we were given the devastating diagnosis that he would never walk,or talk and be in a wheelchair by the age of 3. After research I found a DR TS Park in Missouri USA who was performing this life changing surgery,” his mother Shauna said.

Following on from this, Shauna applied for Rory and the fundraising began.

“I applied for him to consider our little Rory for the procedure. Rory was deemed an ideal candidate and so our fundraising began. The support from the people of Sligo has been so wonderful , We can’t thank people enough for all that they have done. It’s thanks to their love, support and generosity that we are in Missouri and post surgery,” she said.
