Former Westlife star Markus Feehily has revealed the release date of his eagerly anticipated debut album.
“Fire” will be released on October 16. Feehily has been working on songs for the album since the boy band went their separate ways in 2012.
In that time he has been working with some of the music industry’s top producers on the album. He has collaborated with Mojan who has produced Emeli Sande and Sam Smith, Jim Eliot who has worked with Ellie Goulding and Nexus who has worked with Lana Del Rey.
Although it is not out for another two months, “Fire” is available for pre-order on iTunes now.
Markus described his solo album as “the complete polar opposite of what I was doing in Westlife”. The 11-track album leads off with the only single Markus has released so far “Love Is A Drug”.
“Calling my album Fire is a two sided thing,” he said. “Fire represents the dark times I went through while writing the album, but also my actual song Fire from the deluxe album is about finding new love and having the strength to pull through the tough times. So it has both positive and negative sides to it just like actual fire.”
He added: “You might think someone who’s had a 15-year career in music would think they’ve done it all. But I feel there’s so much I want to do that I haven’t done yet.
“That idea makes me feel as young as I did when I was starting out in Westlife. I’m really driven. I’m excited. And I’m ready to stand up and take charge.”
