Spate of break-ins as Sligo businesses urged to check security

A man will appear at Sligo District Court (Thursday) following a break-in at the A Casa Mia Restaurant on Tobergal Lane.

The man, in his late thirties, was arrested a short time after entering the premises during the early hours of Thursday morning last where a small amount of money and bottles of Prosecco were taken.

The nearby Bistro Bianconi was also the scene of a break-in hours earlier however no major damage has been reported.

Meanwhile concerns are mounting in Tubbercurry following the break-in at a prominent business in the area last weekend.

Doohans shop and petrol station was broken into at approximately 5am on Saturday morning where a quantity of cigarrettes and money were stolen.

Following just the latest incident of burglary in the town, residents have once again expressed the desperate need for a 24-hour Garda presence in Tubbercurry where the station currently only operates during the day.
