Several generations of performers from St Larassa’s National School Marching Band in Ballinacarrow relived four decades of memories at a special event held in the Coach House Hotel, Ballymote on Sunday last.
The national school in Ballinacarrow has had an active school band for the last 40 years and today it is still going strong, with the latest generation of schoolkids learning their instruments and taking part in various events, including the St Patrick’s Day Parade.
To mark the 40th anniversary of the very first band being set-up, pupils past and present were invited along to the Coach House Hotel for a day of music, memories and memorabilia.
And the former band members, now adults, also got to relive their childhood as a special performance by past band members took place on the day. The performers, some of whom hadn’t picked up their instruments in years, met the Wednesday before the event in St Larassa’s to practice for Sunday’s celebration.
