It was a good news/bad news day in the fight against crime in Sligo yesterday, Wednesday, with the announcement of a new garda station for Sligo town on a morning when details emerged of the latest serious incidence of rural crime in the county.
While Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald was revealing details of a national €60 million Garda building programme, which will include a new garda regional-divisional headquarters in Sligo town, the owner of a pub and shop in Dromore West was revealing how a gang of at least four men broke into his premises in the early hours of the morning.
