The devastating earthquake which struck Nepal last weekend was detected by a seismometer at IT Sligo.
Measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale, the tremor has caused untold damage in the Asian country where the death toll continues to rise at an alarming rate.
Despite being located almost 8,000 kilometres away from the impact zone, ripples from the earthquake were picked up by the sophisticated piece of equipment at the college which records activity of this nature.
