Fundraising continues for Rory’s Wish To Walk

The fundraising events for the Rory Gallagher’s Wish To Walk campaign continues apace in counties Sligo and Donegal.C53E5071 (200x134)

Last weekend, Grange village hosted a trio of fundraising events, including a bake sale and a special spinning event in the local park. Gavin of G4 Fitness in Grange provided the exercise machines and thankfully the weather was pretty well-behaved for the cycle on Saturday afternoon.

Tomorrow, Friday, January 30, is the next event for Rory, a big children’s party in Five Star Fun in Grange from 6pm to 8pm. Admission is just €5 for the evening with all proceeds going to the campaign.

And then on Thursday next, February 5, the action switches to the Holyrood Hotel in Bundoran for a night of dancing with some fantastic musicians from all over the North West. Doors open at 8pm and the dancing starts from 9.

Admission is just €15 and there will be a raffle on the night for some great prizes.

Paul Kelly and his Band will be the headliners, but they will be joined by a wealth of music talent including Simon Casey, The Logues, Dylan Johnson and Jesse Conlon.

Plus it has also been announced that the Sea Sessions Surf & Music Festival taking place in Bundoran from June 27-29 has nominated Rory Gallagher’s Wish To Walk as their designated charity for 2015. For more on the festival, visit www.seasessions.com

Three enterprising kids from Carbury National School succeeded in raising over €200 before Christmas which, last week, they presented to the Children’s War of Sligo Regional Hospital.

Fourth Class Students Mia Harmon Clinch, Anushka Pathak and Sadbh Timmons Hennessy set up a Christmas stall with home-made goods at the IT Sligo Christmas Market in December to raise the funds.

They also organised a raffle, with the Hickey’s Parmacy Group sponsoring a beautiful hamper as top prize, for the market and their Christmas stall was provided free of charge by Guy Marsden.

The students presented the cheque for €203 to the staff of the Children’s Ward, who were very thankful for their efforts.
